Scientist

Biotechnology company is hiring a Scientist to contribute towards recombinant protein expression and purification efforts to support drug discovery activities. You will facilitate expression analysis of novel protein encoding constructs by utilizing high throughput processes for expression, purification, and characterization for research.

Responsibilities

Protein purification using chromatographic techniques (affinity, size exclusion, ion exchange) for structural and biochemical studies.

Screen and optimize expression and purification of challenging membrane proteins using detergent lysis.

Use various expression platforms such as E.coli, insect cells, and mammalian expression platforms for small and medium scale protein production.

Perform SDS-PAGE, western blot, protein characterization assays by different biophysical and biochemical methods.

Operate high performance liquid chromatography systems (HPLC) for protein purification and analysis.

Qualifications

Masters in Biological Sciences and 3-4 years of experience or PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and 1-2 years of experience

Experience with protein purification expertise in affinity and size exclusion chromatography.

Experience with cell culture techniques for handling routinely insect and mammalian cells.

Expertise with automation and high-throughput process development will be a plus.
