Brooksource is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to work on the Billing team at a major healthcare technology company. As the Jr. Software Engineer, you will be responsible for development using mainframe technologies. You will be responsible for writing code in Cobol. This is a large team with both new applications written in Java, and mission-critical applications written using mainframe technologies. You will work within a diverse tech stack including Mainframe COBOL, SQL, Teradata, DB2 and CICS. As a Jr. Software Engineer, you will be paired with a mentor, and trained on several new technologies as well as legacy technologies.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science

· 1+ year of Java development experience

· Eagerness to learn new technologies

· SQL

· Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities:

· Deliver reliable, scalable and secure software solutions that meet the operational specifications of the application

· Development using Cobol, as well as SQL, CICS, and Teradata

· Go through mainframe training prior to starting (provided)

· Work in a Kanban environment
