Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer is an essential member of our Quality Assurance Department responsible for ensuring that quality systems are properly established and maintained for effective and efficient internal compliance and customer satisfaction. The responsibilities of the Quality Engineer will complement those of the Quality Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading root cause and corrective action investigations in response to complaints / internal non conformances.

Participate in the Material Review Board Team (MRB) and lead investigations on both internal non conformances and returned product.

Assist in managing corrective action and quality improvement activities.

Monitor production floor processes to ensure conformance to internal control plans and external customer requirements.

Analyze non conformance and quality data to establish trends and opportunities for improvement.

Generate SOPs and conduct training with inspectors and operators.

Engage in efforts to create and implement standard work practices on the manufacturing floor.

Provide quality related documents to the manufacturing floor, including control plans, control cards, visual aids, and work instructions.

Conduct Internal Quality Audits to AS9100D and internal quality requirements.

Assist with equipment calibration.

Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages ensuring all elements are met per customer requirements.

Determine root cause and corrective action using 8D and DMAIC problem solving methodologies.

Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement including Lean / Six Sigma.

Participate in and maintain supplier performance and quality rating.

Assist in generating and executing continuous improvement projects targeted to reduce waste, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing cycle time.

Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned by a manager.

Qualifications:

3+ years as a Quality Engineer or in a quality related role in a QMS regulated environment.

Lean and /or Six Sigma experience preferred.

Project Management experience.

Preferred experience in working with MRP systems.

Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related engineering field.

Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience in direct technical support role in a manufacturing environment.

Must demonstrate clear and effective communication skills.

Must be self-motivated, energetic, and independent thinker.

Must exhibit passion for Six Sigma problem solving methods and demonstrate mature understanding of key concepts and principles.

Demonstrate clear and effective communication and presentation skills.

Individual should be a self-motivated, assertive thinker that can work effectively in a freely structured environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
