Hamilton-Madison House is a nonprofit settlement house dedicated to improving the quality of life of its community, primarily the Two Bridges/Chinatown area of Manhattan's Lower East Side. The House provides a wide range of programs and services designed to enhance the quality of life for all residents of the Two Bridges/Chinatown area and throughout New York City’s five boroughs, including childcare, youth development, senior services, behavioral health, and immigrant and community services. Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the HR Generalist will support the Director of Human Resources in managing the day-to-day human resource operations. The position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our human resources functions and is committed to maintaining a positive and productive work environment for staff.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding:

Manage the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and conducting initial screenings.

Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates to schedule interviews and provide relevant information as needed.

Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.

Employee Relations:

Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, benefits, policies, and procedures.

Contribute to the fostering of a positive and inclusive work environment through employee engagement initiatives and serving on DEIB committee.

HR Administration:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both electronically and in physical files.

Prepare and distribute HR-related documents, including employment offer letters.

ADP Workforce Now - maintain HRIS system and Time Management System

Work closely with Finance Department regarding employee payroll actions

Benefits and Compensation

Support benefits administration by assisting employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to health, dental, retirement, and other benefits.

Assist in the annual compensation review process by gathering data and preparing relevant reports.

Compliance and Policies:

Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Performance Management:

Assist in the performance management review process via ADP Workforce Now by tracking performance reviews and providing support to managers.

Employee Offboarding:

Manage the offboarding process, including exit interviews and necessary paperwork.

Manage the return of company property

Special Projects:

Contribute to HR-related projects and initiatives aimed at improving overall HR processes and the employee experience.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field.

2-3 years of experience in a HR generalist capacity.

Understanding of HR principles, best practices, and legal regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus. Microsoft Office Suite experience is required.

Detail-oriented and accurate with exceptional organizational skills, able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Strong work ethic; self-motivated.

Experience in non-profit setting preferred.

Compensation: $60K to 65K, depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 35 hours per week
