Purpose of Position

Responsible for assisting management in port operations and assist with warehouse/cross dock operations as needed.

Accountabilities

• Assist with commercial cargo operations: Ensure established daily NWS equipment requirements are maintained, communicate daily equipment allocation/availability to all relevant parties, coordinate with transportation and shipping coordinators regarding all aspects of shipments (documentation, customs inspection/release, payment, and delivery to customers for imports).

• Coordinate with purchasing department on incoming items, scheduling deliveries, inspections, and assessment of cargo upon arrival to ensure all information is correct and proper entries are made in Oracle (and Produce Pro if applicable).

• Continuously monitor southbound paper and proprietary cargo operations, ensuring damaged cargo is documented, claims are filed with the supplier, and export documentation deadlines are met.

• Responsible for the weekly completion of Customs Export Declarations in AES portal for southbound cargo.

• Prepare all documentation for export including load lists for stevedoring operations, hazardous cargo declarations, bills of lading, commercial invoices, manifests and completing the vessel recap report for discharge port. Coordinate with DMFP Customs Compliance Manager/broker on all imported products to ensure proper clearances/releases are granted.

• Complete daily gate moves and load back/discharge of vessels in ECM program.

• Assist Port Operations Manager with vessel and southbound labor planning and orders.

• Review stevedore labor logs for accuracy and assign proper cost center application for each service.

• Assist with processing invoices as needed.

• Makes decisions related to own work.

• All strategic, operational, & tactical decisions referred to Port Operations Manager

• Assist with reviewing and approving stevedore M&R estimates in EOS system and weekly work cards as needed.

• Assist with warehouse/cross dock operations as needed

Minimum Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree or higher education, or 3+ years in the cargo logistics import – export field.

• 3+ years of experience in supply chain logistics support. Ocean freight cargo movements preferred.

• 3 + Years’ experience in customer service roles, servicing both internal and external customers.

• Demonstrated active participation in a team environment heavily focused on cross training and support of other departments.

• Familiarity with MS Office Suite software tools and willingness to learn new logistics centric software platforms.

• Bilingual with fluent skills in Spanish and English a plus
