THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Transportation team keeps the Primient business moving from supply through to order fulfilment. Every day, the team faces the challenge of coordinating complex truck and rail transport in partnership with 3rd party logistics groups.

Position Description

This role leads a high-performing team of operators to safely and timely distribute 300 million pounds of liquid sweetener and bulk starches to Primient’s customers from our Morrisville, PA Bulk Station. At 45 acres and over 15,000 ft of rail, the Morrisville site is Primient’s largest and distributes a wide variety of products to our food, beverage, and industrial customers in the Northeast. The role reports to the Bulk Station Network Manager and currently has 7 direct reports.

The role works closely with Primient Sales, Customer Service, Production Planning, Quality and Logistics teams as well as local rail service providers, truck carriers and customers to ensure perfectly executed orders.

The Bulk Station Manager will oversee the entire transloading process at Morrisville, from moving rail cars, heating rail cars, finished goods storage and shipping finished products to customers via our 3rd party bulk truck carriers. This person will be accountable for implementing best practices to improve the Bulk Stations’ safety, environmental and operational processes.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

Responsible for championing and demonstrating world class EHSQS culture ensuring continuous improvement through dialogue, actions, and implementation of successful training of EHSQS initiatives.

Maintain a healthy bulk station culture & morale and promote employee engagement.

Work with other bulk station managers in the operation of the truck sanitation system, bulk transfer facility and equipment preventative maintenance.

Work closely with customer service and logistics personnel to meet customer expectations for quality and service.

Effectively communicate and maintain a good working relationship with customers, our commercial teams, and vendors

Accurate and timely posting of transactions in SAP (i.e., inventory receipts and customer shipment information), and maintain inventory records.

Approve vendor invoices and respond to customer complaints.

Assure control and accuracy of bulk station expenses within budget guidelines.

Oversee capital asset maintenance and capex plans for the bulk stations.

Responsible for managing 3rd party contractors to ensure maintenance task, projects, and PM’s are completed in a timely and cost effective manner.

Responsible for handling all Governmental inspections FDA, DEP, Dept of Agriculture, etc.

Responsible for customer audits at the bulk stations

Understand and follow FRA policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

10+ years manufacturing/warehouse/logistics experience

Experience in rail operations and transloading preferred.

Experience in food safety requirements and food grade transportation preferred.

Multiple years’ experience managing teams.

Strong leadership skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Understand and support GMP in a food grade environment.

Good computer skills (MS office and SAP)

Strong interpersonal and communications skills
