We are seeking a Communications Student for our Ottawa District, within our Canadian Buildings Division, that is available for 4 months from September 2024 to December 2024.

Here's how an Communications Student for our Ottawa office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

Assist with writing and editing for a range of communications products; creating content for our intranet PCL Connects and internet PCL.com; researching, interviewing for, and writing feature stories for PCL.com.

Ability to adapt writing for both internal (conversational) and external (formal) audiences.

Work with our communications specialist to support community involvement initiatives and campaigns.

Assist with in-person events, helping with set-up/tear-down

Assist in developing branded internal communications based on PCL’s visual identity using graphic design platforms (e.g., posters, brochures and infographics).

Works collaboratively with our communications specialist and events planner to develop videos on a variety of topics.

Has attention to detail when it comes to writing articles, including an understanding of CP Style and writing best practices.

Performs multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Qualifications

Working towards a degree or diploma in a communications-related field (communications, public relations, marketing, etc.).

Strong written communication and collaboration skills.

Competency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to tailor content to each platform as required.

Experience with photography, photo editing would be an asset.

Experience with videography (scripting, storyboarding, location, interviews, sound, filming, and editing) and video editing would be an asset (Premier Pro or Final Cut).
