Responsibilities:
Dictates admission and daily progress notes, orders, and directs discharge planning & follow up, and works to improve the quality of care & patient satisfaction. Implements strategies to decrease length of stay & re-admission rates on the inpatient service
Educates patients and/or families about the urology condition, discharge planning, preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications
Works collaboratively with other specialties in coordination and communication of patient care needs
Maintains accurate and confidential electronic medical records: documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, discharge summaries and consultations consistent with state regulatory standards
Works to collaborate with physicians, residents, and fellows, which facilitates timely consultative and referral services
Will be instrumental in the development of care pathways and protocols for Urology service line
Active involvement with quality improvement initiatives as well as best practice models for hospital and Urology
Integrates education, research, leadership, and consultation into clinical role and functions in collegial relationships with nursing peers, physicians, and professionals and others who influence the healthcare environment
Participate in resident and staff education, independent or requested consultation, research, and administrative actvities
Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workships, professional literature, or "hands on training" and assimiliates this knowledge into clinical practice
Qualifications:
Must possess a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited school.
Two years of experience as a practicing PA/NP preferred.
Must possess a State of Maryland Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License, in good standing.
