Job title: Manufacturing Engineer

What you’ll be doing:

Work with all our manufacturing data sets including 3D solid model, 2D drawings, BOM data, ERM data, MES data, Standard Part Families, Workstation codes, Manufacturing Instructions, Supplier Instructions, Tooling Database etc

Understand and contribute to the Digital Shipbuilder strategy and data dependencies throughout the current and future phases of the project

Driving standardisation of data sets from authoring point through to consumption and subsequent reporting across the Manufacturing Engineering function

Support build line and continuous improvements, analysing manufacturing data to drive these effectively

Responsible for the correct and efficient use of Lean Tools and Techniques. (A3’s, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis etc.)

Developing mature data stewardship practices and influencing key senior stakeholders across all functions on the importance of data integrity

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

Experience in project management/ project delivery

Have an analytical mind and advanced computer literacy, to conduct data analysis work; e.g. in Excel

Professional knowledge of relevant Engineering & Manufacturing Engineering standards/practices (including Health & Safety regulations)

Engineering or Manufacturing apprenticeship / HNC / HND/ Degree, or equivalent work experience in a Manufacturing Engineering / Systems role

Desirable:

Experience in full lifecycle of the introduction of manufacturing technologies

PMDY qualification or equivalent

Previous data governance experience in large manufacturing organisations

The Manufacturing Engineering team

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be working as part of our Strategic Investment team. The team are responsible for delivery of the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) through acquisition of capital expenditures. The IBP is designed to provide sufficient capacity and capability to enable delivery of our organisational objectives. We are looking for someone to support leading the development and delivery of a range of projects that vary in both cost and complexity.
