As aligned with the college's vision and mission, the Chaperones serves as a mentor to students participating in the TRIO Upward Bound Program.

The program provides academic and personal development support to high school students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to help them succeed in their educational pursuits and prepare for college.

As a Chaperone, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive experience of program participants during various activities and events.

Minimum Qualifications * Ability to work in a diverse environment.

* Previous experience working with high school students, preferably in an education or youth development setting.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to handle diverse situations and adapt to the needs of the program participants.

* Knowledge of TRIO programs and commitment to the mission of Upward bound.

* Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, Spreadsheets, presentation and collaboration apps and software.

* Ability to effectively and safely interact with a diverse campus environment.

* Valid Driver's License with a driving record in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications * Experience working or knowledge of the TRIO programs.

* Professional and/or personal experience overcoming barriers similar to those of Project participants * Bi-lingual Skills (Spanish- English) * Ability to relate with students of multicultural backgrounds; be approachable, patient, and friendly.

* Proficiency in using educational technology and resources for teaching purposes.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

* Dependable and committed to helping students.

* Previous experience teaching ACT or SAT preparation course * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to motivate and inspire student Essential Duties * Provide direct supervision and support to Upward Bound program participants during scheduled activities, including workshops, fieldtrips, and residential components.

* Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages students' academic and personal growth.

* Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, implementing appropriate safety protocols and emergency procedures.

* Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to participant behavior, safety, or health.

* Assist in the coordination and execution of program logistics, including transportation, accommodations, and meal arrangements for various program activities.

* Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth operation of events.

* Serve as a mentor and positive role model for program participants, offering guidance and support in academic and personal development.

* Encourage a positive and respectful atmosphere among students.

* Provide regular updates on student progress, concerns, and noteworthy achievements.

* Assist in maintaining organized records for future reference.
