SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing HOURS: M-F 8-5, Some Sat. 9-12 must be flexible
CLASSIFICATION: Full time/ Hourly/Non-Exempt TRAVEL / LOCATION: multiple locations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current NY state licensure as an RN
3-5 years clinical RN experience required
Direct experience in a primary care (preferred but not required)
Reliable transportation between sites required.
Current CPR and Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
Maintain credentials, attend seminars, and fulfill all licensure requirements including continuing education.
Demonstrated ability and familiarity with tools, technology, and systems found within health care environments (such as Basic Computer Skills, Electronic Medical Records, Experience with Medent EMR a plus).
Previous experience training or teaching others within the skill set necessary to perform nursing responsibilities
Ability to provide instruction, guidance and understanding of technical processes to adult learners
JOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Educator will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing to oversee onboarding and training of new hires on the nursing team to include MA's, LPN's and RN's in addition to broad training across locations for Nursing members. The Nursing Educator will also work in conjunction with the Director of Talent Development to ensure compliance with all training for nursing new hires, ongoing and annual training compliance.
Essential Job Duties
TRAINING
Directs staff in compliance with nursing standards of practice and JRCHC policies.
Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Provide ongoing training and education to the nursing staff in all areas of the clinical environment and retraining of individuals as directed by nursing team leadership
Collaborate with the nursing department leadership team to identify training and staff development needs as updates, or knowledge base changes in industry standards
Conduct and administer skills checklist to RNs, LPNs and MAs across all clinical sites.
Confirm and support compliance for new hire, annual, mandatory and all staff trainings for nursing team (MA, LPN, RN) in collaboration with Director of Talent Development
Seek creative ways to communicate and execute training through different modalities, google classroom, LMS system, YouTube Videos, in person hands on training
Adapt training to reach each individual understanding the way they learn best
Reinforce training elements on a regular basis, checking for understanding and expecting demonstration of proficiency in skill set for each role on the nursing team
Must be familiar with all clinic sites and support training needs for RNs, LPNs, and MAs across the organization
ADMINISTRATION
Collaborate with Director of Talent Development to develop and enhance current training materials and modalities for nursing staff
Attend meetings with other organizational trainers and managers for updates and workflow improvements
Support developing and maintaining training schedule for nursing team members
Prepare reports of staff performance and make recommendations to management
Evaluate and review new hire progress during probationary period and communicate any concerns to supervisor for 30, 60, 90 day evaluations
Make recommendations on how to evaluate proficiency for essential nursing functions for each team member
Meet regularly to provide updates to Nurse Managers, Director of Nursing and Chief Operating Officer
PATIENT CARE
Ability to demonstrate and model professionalism, candor and care of patients and their family members

Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, state/local regulations, and patient satisfaction.
Ensure all actions, personal conduct, and communications represent the organizational values in a highly professional manner at all times.
Perform physical exams and patient assessments to identify and address health problems and unmet patient care needs.
Triage patient concerns and immediate needs by phone or in person.
Provide nursing intervention and health education for individuals, families, and/or other groups regarding disease prevention, childbirth, support programs, and other health-related concerns.
Perform medical treatments (medication and vaccine administration) as prescribed by a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or midwife.
Collect samples (blood, urine, stool or sputum) from patients and perform routine laboratory tests.
Prepare patients for examination, testing or treatments and explain procedures.
Perform EKG and Spirometry
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Exert up to 50lbs. pushing, pulling, or lifting. Walking, climbing stairs required. Able to talk/hear and communicate with others with or without reasonable accommodation.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to travel to sites while maintaining standards of safety and compliance with motor vehicle traffic laws. This position may require travel for necessary training and conferences.
