Sensitive or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor.

Work is frequently reviewed for accuracy and to ensure adherence to research.

Responsibilities * Clean and disinfect animal cages and equipment * Operate washroom equipment, including rack, tunnel and cabinet washers; autoclaves, disposals units, bedding dispensers and portable washers * Basic record keeping in logbooks * Work with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals * Sanitize washroom and storage areas Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required: * Nearly Continuously: Standard vivarium environment; with typical vivarium environmental hazards and concerns.

Standard laboratory environment; Safety shoes are required to be worn by all employees working in animal facilities * Seldom: Occasionally handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, rarely coming in contact with hazardous materials.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required: * Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking, walking.

* Often: Bending, reaching overhead, twisting.

* Seldom: Lifting - up to 50 pounds, kneeling, squatting.

Minimum Qualifications GED or HS Diploma or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
