Job Description:

Summary/Objective:

The Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) is seeking an undergraduate student to serve as the CDI videographer creating and curating content that celebrates, promotes, and enhances the CDI portfolio.

The Center for Diversity & Inclusion is looking for a collaborative team player interested in enhancing the experience of all students, understanding the campus climate, and partnering intentionally with campus partners and administrative offices to tell stories and share experiences through video media.

Required Education & Experience:

The Videographer must be a current AU enrolled student at full-time status. Additionally, they must have a knowledge and understanding of filming, editing, and mixing.

Essential Functions:

Filming video on set and on location.

Working with creative teams and colleagues in and out of CDI to write, and storyboard video shoots.

Setting up and taking down cameras, microphones, lighting, props, and other equipment.

Editing footage after recording using editing software

Adding computer graphics, closed captioning, and special effects to footage.

Preparing background film, also called B-roll.

Fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud and various Editing Platforms for videos.

Attend large scale and CDI signature events to film and capture footage

Research, benchmark, and assess CDI and other campuses’ educational, support programs, & media efforts.

Intermediate to proficient in editing software, Finalcut, Celtx, Avid, Canva, Ppt. etc.

Other duties as assigned with general office tasks.

Qualifications:

Ability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments.

Multitasking skills for working with additional members at once.

Creative thinking with an excellent eye for detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with CDI members who may play an active role in the production team.

Knowledge of post-production techniques.

Physical ability to move and hold recording equipment for long periods.

Understanding of computer software used for planning, editing and scripting.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is an in person (non-hybrid) position that can work up to 10 hours (a week).

Salary Range:

17.50 an hour.

Required Education and Experience:

Open to all undergraduate students, preferrably with Federal Work Study. Students must be enrolled in an American University degree program for the 2024-2025 academic year. As a note, there are no tuition benefits available for this position.
