Summary:# Provides Speech Language Pathology services to patients of all ages including adolescents, adults and geriatric patients who are referred; Evaluates disorders of speech, articulation, fluency, voice, language, oral pharyngeal function or cognitive communicative function of the patient; Develops goals and treatment plan in conjunction with the patient and family/significant other; Executes treatment program; Provides education to patients, families and caregivers; Supervises Speech Language Pathology students and support staff in compliance with hospital and state regulatory policies.

Must meet departmental per diem requirements as set forth by management.

Education: Master#s degree in Speech Language Pathology from a Speech Language Pathology program accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association; Passing score on ASHA national exam; Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association, Clinical Fellows considered.

Licensure: License and/or eligible for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Department of Health, Division of Professional Regulation, State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

BLS required.

Experience: One year experience preferred.

# Skills and Abilities: Speech Language Pathology theory, assessment and treatment techniques; ability to perform Modified Barium Swallow studies; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients Skills in organization, time management and priority setting.

Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with peers and other disciplines.

Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and caregivers and demonstrating sensitivity to age, spiritual, and cultural diversity of customers Ability to instruct patients, caregivers and their families Proficiency in English grammar, spelling # punctuation Maintains information confidential (HIPAA) Demonstrated customer service skills Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs., and requires frequent standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity required.
