The Inbound Transportation Senior Manager leads all aspects of TCS inbound freight to DCs (domestic and import) and customs trade compliance. The role leads the inbound logistics team, drives performance employing best-in-class vendor partners and technology tools (customized and partner solutions) is responsible for day to day activities with budgetary responsibilities. This leader possesses strong analytical and project management abilities demonstrating a track record of consistently achieving best-in-class KPIs across quality, on-time performance, and costs. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Lead teams
Hires and develops the best talent as needed
Leads, coaches, motivates, and develops direct reports and extended teams
Model TCS leadership competencies, including customer focus, collaboration, driving results, effective communication, managing complexity, and others
Develop leadership, business, and industry expertise in teams
Ensure optimal performance: financial, operational, and trade compliance
Ensure effective execution for all inbound product flow; includes leveraging technology tools and managing service providers to balance cost with speed/service
Ensure timely and accurate freight invoice auditing, coding, accruals, and summary reporting
Manage service provider procurement process for inbound transportation including contract negotiations, legal reviews, thorough analysis, and a high-integrity process that results in the best overall solutions
Monitor, maintain, and adhere to service provider contract terms
Manage customs compliance, overseeing customs broker, advising internal stakeholders, and ensuring import requirements are met.
Participate in annual sustainability efforts
Drive continuous improvement within and across functions
Collaborate with service providers, merchandising / planning, DC operations, technology, and accounting / finance
In partnership with the Director, identify process and technology change opportunities, define options, recommend optimal choices, and validate results
Hands on analysis, report management and ad-hoc data reviews monitoring KPIs providing visibility into performance and cost metrics
Act as a Subject Matter Expert
Stay current and inform stakeholders on industry trends, new legislation, and global, national, and local events that impact the inbound flow of goods while implementing contingency plans to mitigate risk
In partnership with the Director, identify, quantify, and communicate transportation impacts related to actual or proposed changes in the business
Represent the company
Participate in cross-functional employee engagement activities
Participate as appropriate in industry trade groups
Experience and Skills Required
College degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of transportation management experience in a multi-site distribution network, preferably in retail, with minimum 2 years managing a team
Demonstrated ability to oversee compliance-related functions (internal / external), and understand impacts of import compliance: HTS codes, country of origin requirements, valuation, assists, markings. Note: this position does not require direct experience as a broker.
2+ years of procurement experience with domestic and international freight
Proficiency with two or more custom or enterprise systems, including TMS, WMS, supply chain visibility, and invoice auditing systems
Demonstrated hands-on data analysis and summarization skills, including advanced Excel and/or MS Access / SQL skills. Experience developing ad hoc reporting in enterprise tools (Cognos, etc) is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment with multiple stakeholders and – at times – conflicting goals
Advanced communication and negotiation skills
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
Ability to prioritize planned and reactive work on a daily basis, while maintaining progress on multiple priorities
Demonstrated professional curiosity and must be at least 18 years old
