Scope: The project estimator role is designed to assist with overall solutions design. The role includes calculating the projected time frame, labor needs, materials, budgets, and expenses for structured cabling and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

The Project Estimator performs a variety of administrative and analytical tasks, including:

Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.

Determining factors that influence the cost of a service or product.

Preparing material and cost estimates for the product or service.

Creating labor estimates for any project.

Assisting with solution design and contingency plans as needed

Working with purchasing and subject matter experts to create detailed cost analysis.

Presenting prepared estimates to sales and customers, if needed.

The Project Estimator models appropriate behavior in alignment with Optus’ Core Values and supports Optus’ team approach to Quality.

Requirements:

Requires a high school degree or equivalent.

2 to 5 years of project or estimating experience.

Field experience with installing IT infrastructure and cabling (Copper and fiber) Preferred

Familiarity with National Electrical Code and General OSHA rules.

Previous data entry skills preferred.

Experience with Microsoft, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

This position requires the successful candidate to be able to multi-task, work within externally developed deadlines, and respond promptly and efficiently to change.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Occasional travel to offsite customer locations as needed. Ability to read, write, and communicate both orally and written to external and internal customers and employees. Normal vision and normal hearing with or without correction. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs. periodically throughout workday. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, sit in one place, squat and kneel continuously throughout day. Ability to reach, bend, and twist continuously throughout day. Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing, as well as repetitive hand and wrist motions. Ability to work together effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
