Key Roles & Responsibilities
This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.
Installs department computer hardware and software programs.
Performs preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshoots, repairs computer systems and peripheral equipment.
Assists in some networking functions; provides support in day-to-day operations of local area networks.
Provides data entry support and database management for the department. Works with other departments to solve networking and application issues that affect the users.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Be comfortable with answering the helpdesk phone throughout the day
Must be able to multitask
Knowledge of Windows Mac OS
Excellent communication skills
Communicate through various technologies with colleagues
Ability to research and resolve issues
Prior experience in computer troubleshooting is a plus
Prior phone support experience is a plus
Be a team player, Self-motivated and Effortlessly work in a constantly demanding environment Work under minimal guidance
Excel in Customer Service
Evaluate, test, and suggest new technologies
Documentation
Work closely with HSIS and UAB Central IT on integration.
Hourly Range: $15.50 - $25.20
Education
Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
