Employee Wellness Instructors provide high-quality, safe group fitness instruction through engaging, educational, and fun classes that promote fitness, wellness, and positive self-worth. They act as a fitness and wellness resource for class participants and maintain positive relationships to encourage continued class attendance. The Employee Wellness Instructor is responsible for meeting class attendance goals.

Responsibilities

Create a warm and welcoming environment for employees, spouses, and retirees.

Teach exercise or fitness techniques focused on safety.

Provide superior customer service.

Create and administer wellness and fitness class lesson plans.

On the spot, evaluate the capabilities or training needs of those attending classes and adapt the lesson plans according to the students in the room. Provide alternate movements to attendees as needed.

Provides music for each class that entertains and motivates while ensuring appropriate language.

Enforce rules or regulations for safety and explain policies or procedures.

Arrives ten minutes before class or open gym times to set up the space and welcome attendees as they arrive.

Start classes on time and takes attendance. After class, ensures class supplies are put away, the room is back to its original set-up, and the door is locked.

For virtual classes, has proficiency in using Zoom and teaching fitness and wellness in a virtual setting.

Can perform the exercises taught in the assigned class or guide attendees on doing exercise correctly with proper form during open fitness center hours.

Sends attendance by email or text to the Employee Wellness Specialist bi-weekly.

Attends one team meeting per semester and reads and responds to emails or texts as needed.
