BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to focus on fabrication. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our York, PA facility. Typical hours for this on-site position are 6 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, with every other Friday off as part of our 9/80 schedule.

In this highly hands-on role, you will spend the majority of your time, up to 90%, on the shop floor resolving manufacturing related issues and providing technical support on a variety of technical tasks including fabrication, welding and drilling. You will also perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas as needed. Finally, you may interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.

As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication, you will:

Help support the the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) program for turret fabrication

Apply knowledge of the design of organization's products and technology to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems

Evaluate and modify Fabrication Work Instructions as needed

Use working knowledge and implementation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)

Analyze and interpret design specifications, CAD drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure product built complies with the technical data package, applicable engineering standards and military specifications

Develop and write technical documentation, make revisions to existing documentation, and provide input to technical papers or presentations / may deliver technical presentations

Perform technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and/or by computer programs

Provide input to project leaders for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets

Apply basic lean/six sigma principals to drive improvements to production processes

Interact with various groups including Quality, Operations, Design, and Production

Interact with multiple facilities across the country

Evaluate current processes and develop process improvements

Work directly with tooling design on fixture development and implementation

Use knowledge of metallurgy and material weldability

Use knowledge of portable drill processes (Mag / Air Feed)

Research cutters / drill bits for various materials and drilling operations

Typical Education and Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Typically a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline such as Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Weld Engineering with 4+ years relevant experience; we may experience in lieu of degree.

Preferred Skills and Education

Engineering experience with relevant applications in a defense environment

Specialized technical knowledge of relevant military and commercial design standards

Working knowledge of GD&T

Working knowledge of various welding / cutting processes GMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SMAW, PAC, OFC

Working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) processes

Certification with AWS as a CWI or other relevant certification

Working knowledge of Portable Drill Applications

Experience working in a union environment

Ability to work other shifts
