Desktop Engineer- onsite in Pittsburgh, PA

The A.C.Coy Company has an immediate opening for a Desktop Engineer role. This position will be responsible for both acting as a technical lead and architect for all desktop computing technologies.

Responsibilities

Design, build, support, maintain and improve all aspects of desktop computing environment including physical and virtual imaging, provisioning, baseline configuration and security hardening, application delivery and patching

Oversee resolution of all desktop design related issues and ensure action plans and status are communicated appropriately to other IT teams and business

Identify opportunities and recommend solutions and automation to improve overall desktop computing reliability, efficiency and cost

Collaborate with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Applications and Cybersecurity teams to ensure appropriate configuration and maintenance of the desktop environment inclusive of configuration management, patching and vulnerability remediation

Train and mentor other members of the Infrastructure and Service Desk teams to diagnose and resolve basic desktop issues. Act as 2nd level support to Service Desk staff in their daily responsibilities to deploy or replace physical workstations and resolve software installation and patching issues

Manage third-party consultants and vendors in support of projects and operations

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, a related field or five years’ relevant experience.

Five or more years of related desktop engineering experience along with working knowledge of networking, server, security and application topics

Technical proficiency with:

hypervisor technologies (Microsoft, VMware, etc.)

VDI solutions (Microsoft, Citrix, etc.)

Microsoft platforms (Server OS, Active Directory, System Center, InTune, etc.)

qualified candidates must have InTune to be considered

Public cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google GCP)

Experience with build-out and management of automated, self-service software delivery and computer imaging tools (cloud and on-premises)

Effective prioritization and project management skills

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
