Meta is seeking a Visiting Researcher through a short-term contract to join Meta AI.About Meta AI: We are committed to advancing the field of artificial intelligence by making fundamental advances in scientific methods and technologies to help interact with and understand our world.

We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as deep learning, computer vision, audio and speech processing, natural language processing, machine learning, reinforcement learning, and computational statistics.This position is short-term employment for PhD students who will work in collaboration with Meta.

The position will be part-time during the academic school year and may be part-time or full-time during the student’s summer break.

Responsibilities:

Visiting Researcher, Ego-Exo4D (PhD) Responsibilities:

Develop methods to improve the quality of the Ego4D and Ego-Exo4D dataset.

Create documentation to allow users to quickly make use of the Ego4D and Ego-Exo4D dataset.

Extract various features from the dataset using large-scale computer infrastructure.

Increase usability of the dataset (e.g., precomputed features, reduced resolution video, tutorials) and drive adoption (e.g., challenge management, advertisements).

Qualification and experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Currently enrolled in a PhD program in a technical field such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Research experience in Computer Vision.

Experience with Ego4D and/or Ego-Exo4D dataset.

Experience with Python, C/C++.

Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred:

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, or similar.

Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).

Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.

Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
