Overview:

NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Mental Health Director (LCSW, MFT and LPC) to join our team in Tucson, AZ.

This is a full-time position at the Pima County Jail. The Assistant Mental Health Director works under the direct supervision of the Mental Health Director, Health Services Administrator, site Medical Director, and Corporate Mental Health Director. The Assistant Mental Health Director is responsible for assisting the Mental Health Director with leading, directing, managing, and evaluating mental health services.

Position Requirements

• Hold and maintain a current, unrestricted license (LCSW) in Arizona

• Valid CPR card

• Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in a mental health care setting

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management and correctional healthcare preferred

• Knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, discharge planning, principles of social work, basic principles of individual and group behavior, suicide risk assessment, crisis de-escalation techniques

• Working knowledge of psychotropic medications

Performance Expectations

• Facilitate patient treatment according to company policies and procedures to include, but not limited to, admission and discharge from the mental health unit, housing change requests, seclusion, suicide precautions, close observation, and observation level changes

• Maintain clinical and administrative responsibility for mental health clinicians within the facility, in partnership with the Mental Health Director

• Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V / DSM-V-TR criteria

• Lead efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of mental health services, in partnership with the Mental Health Director

• Lead and assist in developing systems to ensure and monitor patient care and safety

• Oversee the completion of mental health evaluations in compliance with company policies and procedure and ensure that the Mental Health clinician staff performs these in a timely manner

• Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff

• Participate in and lead all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned by the Mental Health Director

• Ensure 24 hour phone consultation and support for any mental health needs

• Collaborate with the Mental Health Director in responsibility for the management of mental health services

• Work with the Mental Health Director, HSA, Medical Director, and psychiatric providers to establish systems for the coordination of care among multidisciplinary health care providers

• Monitor any referrals to outside mental health care facilities made by mental health workers for appropriateness, quality, and continuity of care and review those services provided by consultants and outside resources

• Work with Discharge Planner or Social Services (if available) to coordinate discharge planning with institutional and mental health staff to ensure continuity of care

• Relay critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care
