Position Description: The Sr. Director of Safety and Security will lead, manage, and direct safety and security initiatives and programs across the enterprise to provide for the efficient operation of the facilities. S/He will be responsible for developing and implementing safety strategies to ensure the health and safety of employees as well as organization compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate health, and safety laws. This individual will set goals and objectives for the Safety Department to achieve reductions in incident rates of injuries, collisions, and property damage, and reduce cost from year to year. S/He will design and implement training programs to achieve company objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to build a strong culture of company safety and security executing to best-in-class metrics specific to budgeted performance goals.

Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive guidelines and protocols for the operation of the Safety and Security Departments.

Develop annual Safety and Security budgets in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future time periods.

Develop and distribute KPIs to applicable levels throughout the organization.

Serve as Principal Safety Leader for all locations through supervision of managers carrying responsibility and accountability for all employees.

Ensure that corrective actions are taken on a timely basis regarding any safety discrepancies, malfunctions, safety hazards, or security breaches discovered throughout the facilities.

Design and implement an Emergency Response Procedures Manual and lead our field through readiness & deployment.

Ensure the Safety Department oversees the compliance, daily safety activities, safety performance and incident investigations at all locations.

Develop, implement, and administer health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure all company locations meet current regulatory agency and industry standard requirements and expectations.

Ensure company follows and complies with all laws, OSHA, Fire Codes, DOT federal and state regulations, and company safety policies.

Ensure drivers comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations by providing them with guidance, information, and training.

Develop and implement a plan consistent with the accomplishment of long range established objectives which will enhance effectiveness and reduce risk expenditure.

Ensure employee safety education, communication, and performance by providing materials, programs, and processes.

Conduct performance and objective reviews with Safety Department employees per company guidelines.

Annually review the company Injury and Illness Prevention Program and update and modify as needed.

Annually review all safety training programs, procedures, and forms to ensure they are up to date with all regulatory requirements and to ensure their effectiveness.

Investigate new technology to enhance performance of Safety and Security Departments

Perform security risk assessments and develop action response plans accordingly.

Direct staff to develop, implement and maintain security processes, practices and policies across the enterprise designed to limit liability and reduce risk of theft, trespassing, and disruption of daily operations.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business, occupational safety, environmental safety, or related field; advance degree preferred.

Experience:

8+ years’ experience in developing, implementing and/or managing safety/security programs in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
