Salary: $25/hr

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for creating content, scheduling posts, and monitoring social media metrics. As the Social Media Coordinator you will develop and champion the Okayplayer brand across Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube platform.This position will have the following responsibilities and duties:

Assist in the development and execution of Okayplayer's social media strategy to increase brand awareness, engagement, and audience growth.

Create and curate compelling content for Okayplayer's social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and emerging platforms.

Monitor social media channels for trends, news, and opportunities for engagement, and proactively engage with followers and community members.

Schedule and publish content on social media platforms, ensuring consistency in tone, style, and brand voice.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including editorial, marketing, and partnerships, to align social media efforts with overall business objectives and priorities.

Assist in the planning and execution of social media campaigns, contests, and promotions to drive user engagement and increase brand visibility.

Monitor and analyze key performance metrics and social media analytics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives, and provide regular reporting and insights to stakeholders.

Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in social media and digital marketing, and share knowledge and insights with the team.

Keeping up with breaking news from around the world.

The ability to take trends and viral moments and package it for social media in a way that’s engaging and relevant to the audience.

Work with the production team on social first and video content series and ideas within OKP Studios

The Social Media Coordinator should be an in depth expert in brand culture, social trends, and Black culture overall. They should have the following skills, education and experience:

Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism or related field.

A passionate interest in African affairs, hip-hop culture, entertainment, and African news.

At least 1 to 3 years of professional experience with social media management, writing and editing.

An understanding of how editorial content lives on socials and how it differs from the greater brand needs.

Deep knowledge of and enthusiasm for social media trends and internet culture.

Fluency in social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and more is a must.

Experience with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Canva and other common tools of the trade.

Salary: $25/hr at 30 hours/week
