Job Description
Oakwood School is seeking a full-time Mathematics teacher (grades 7-10) for the 2024-25 school year. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching four sections of mathematics using both traditional and Illustrative Mathematics curricula. We are seeking a candidate who can design engaging and effective classroom experiences at any level from pre-algebra to Algebra 2. We are seeking candidates who will engage with our students in a progressive, nurturing, constructivist manner while ensuring sufficient mastery and development of sound mathematical practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, prepares, and executes developmentally-supportive math lessons in accordance with Oakwood’s Math department learning outcomes;
Collaborates with fellow Math teachers in designing and developing curriculum;
Maintains regular communication with student-support team members: parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators and updates an organized assignment calendar and gradebook in Oakwood School’s learning management system;
Serves as a middle school advisor to facilitate Oakwood’s social-emotional learning curriculum, and
Constructively contributes to department and faculty meetings, as well as parent conferences and open houses; engages in regular communication with parents and administrators; and occasional supervisory duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
3+ years of relevant Middle School teaching experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, including a high degree of cultural competency
Dedication to the whole-person development of young people, including an enthusiasm for positive identity development and diversity, equity, and inclusion work
Proficient computer skills with Google Drive and Microsoft Windows office products, as well as with Desmos, Delta Math, and the TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator
Expected compensation: $68,896 - $80,944
