Legal Assistant
Position Summary:
Full-time opening with a Michigan-based, full-service law firm, for an experienced Legal Assistant in their Birmingham office supporting multiple practice teams. Seeking a candidate who is organized and displays a keen attention to detail, with a superb commitment to client service. This individual should be comfortable working independently, as well as part of a team. The candidate should also have a background in insurance defense or personal injury. The person in this role would be supporting a personal injury attorney, in addition to potentially doing some general litigation work. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity!
Requirements:
2 or more years of experience as a litigation focused legal assistant, or relevant experience in a law firm
Prior litigation experience required.
Prior experience in insurance defense or personal injury.
Bachelor’s degree in legal studies or related field preferred; HS diploma required
Excellent grammar, proofreading, transcription, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Remains professional, courteous, and successful in fast-paced or deadline driven situations
Ability to work well in a team-oriented professional services environment
Ability to problem-solve and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines
Demonstrates a willingness to undertake additional responsibilities and assist others, contributing to the overall success of the team
Advanced skills in MS Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel
Proficiency with Adobe, iManage and/or other document management systems
Willingness to learn new technology or software programs
Ability to type 60 or more wpm with a high degree of accuracy
