Summary
Emmanuel Preschool seeks a caring, enthusiastic teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The part-time position is 5 days a week, but does have the flexibility for 2-3 days if desired. Founded in 1968, Emmanuel Preschool believes that young children learn best through play activities that are supported by their relationships and interactions with loving adults. Typical hours are 8:30 a.m. - 12:50 p.m.
Start date is August 26, 2024 and end date is June 10, 2025
Emmanuel Preschool follows the Alexandria City Public School calendar for winter and spring break
Ideal candidates will possess a BA in early childhood education or at least 2 years of classroom experience
Duties
Collaborate with classroom co-teacher(s) for planning lessons and activities that are centered around play-based learning
Provide positive and impactful learning experiences
Provide daily communication with families of students via a written email to the entire class
Provide two parent-teacher conferences annually
Attend teacher workdays before and after the school year (included in dates provided), monthly staff meetings, and professional developments throughout the year
Requirements
Passionate about the value of play-based learning for young children
Possess and utilize an understanding of children’s emotional needs
Effectively communicate with entire preschool community including directors and administrators, fellow teachers, and families of students
Nice To Haves
Possess a BA in early childhood education OR
At least 2 years of classroom experience
