Mobile Diesel Tractor Mechanic

Job Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Mobile Diesel Tractor mechanic providing maintenance for SYCS fleet and potential others. This would be maintenance of Class 8 tractors ranging from International, Macks, Freightliners and Kenworths.

Ideal candidate can do mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, electrical systems, fault code diagnosis and general repair.

Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.

Provides repair quotes and recommendations to leadership

Basic knowledge of operating equipment

Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing as needed procedures.

Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for extensive and complex repairs.

Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.

Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt on service truck.

A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required

Complete required papers and documentation

Keeping equipment clean interior and exterior.

Perform other job responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education)

HS Diploma or GED equivalent

Five years proven fleet mechanic experience preferred

Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools

Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education)

Class A CDL license preferred.

Diesel equipment experience preferred.

Professional Skills:

Excellent attention to details, thoroughness, and interpersonal skills

Ability to self-manage and also provide feedback on how to improve.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
