Role Summary

Provides guidance and counsel to departments during the development of headcount and spending plans for Budget, Forecast, and Planning Round periods. Subsequently statuses colleagues with monthly reporting on spend and headcount Actuals, Forecast, Budget Capacity, Productivity, and Optimization opportunities. Commensurate with those functions and statuses, the role also approves spend requests as per the Finance Policy approval matrix and within existing Budget/Forecast capacity.

Ensures adherence with corporate financial policies and procedures. Instills knowledge, discipline, and accountability in the use of resources through reporting analysis and financial consultation. Assists in business case development and documents benefits in resource planning.

Role Responsibilities:

Conceives, quantifies, gains consensus, and deploys ideas to improve profitability and operating efficiency/effectiveness.

Develops monthly Forecasts and annual Budget/Planning Round headcount and fixed/direct costs.

Collaborates with Controlling team, cost center owners, and leadership in development of resource plans. Optimizes headcount/spend in the context of capacity, productivity, strategy, and other analytics. Suggests and defends recommendations.

Defines and gains consensus on annual performance metrics prior to Budget/Planning Round finalization.

Analyzes monthly results, understands variances and delivers on-target (or better) performance. Mitigates business risks and captures opportunities.

Represents Finance in review and recommendation of spend authorization via Purchase Requisitions, Meeting Cost Estimates, Check Requests, PARs, Business Cases, Scoring Models, MPRs, etc

Presents planning, variances, business cases, etc, in an executive-level format.

Manages the year-end accrual process, including preparation of audit materials.

Ad hoc financial analyses upon request, other special projects as assigned.

Reston

Support the development of HQ-level presentations.

Review and book monthly VWGoA inter-company invoices. Coordinate with VWGoA colleagues to understand and incorporate the annual Service Agreement (SLA), chargebacks, and other recoveries.

Generate monthly management package to report penetration targets, retail and lease purchases, portfolio growth, and headcount.

Track and ensure on-budget performance of all Marketing Support activities

Liaise and present to HQ leadership on Controlling-related topics, including Forecasts, Budgets, Planning Rounds, Productivity, Business Cases, etc.

Lead monthly updates and enhancement of Budget Model.

Perform annual Management Fee Study. Present outcomes and rationale to VWFS US and VWFS Canada leadership.

Years of experience

6-8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a finance or accounting role – including:

In-depth accounting experience, including reconciliation and accruals.

Data analytics and budgeting/forecasting.

Consulting, advising, and communicating with colleagues at all levels

Education - Required

BBA with Accounting or Finance major

Education - Desired

Master’s Degree in Finance or Business Administration
