The Multi-Asset Sales Trader sits within our Sales Trading team and is the primary contact for our buy-side Outsourced and Institutional client dealing desks.

Often dealing with Portfolio Managers or buy-side traders, they are the link to our internal execution trading desk.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure Best Execution is delivered for our clients.

Best execution and service delivery to our clients covers a variety of parameters including market intelligence, relevant news and information, pre and post trade analysis, advice on dealing instructions and liquidity opportunities but always with due care and diligence while maintaining open dialogue with the client.

The Multi Asset Sales Trader will be responsible for building and maintaining trading relationships and facilitating client orders to the trading desk.

Additional responsibilities include:

To act as the Relationship Manager / Sales Trader for Northern Trust’s outsourced trading and institutional clients

Ensures trades are routed properly to the trading desk for execution.

Coordinated with trading desk to execute client orders in line with their instructions and any benchmarks. Where there are no instructions, the Multi Asset Trader is expected to use their knowledge and experience for discretion on the trading instruction

Clearly outline any unique needs of each client with the trading desk

Follows up on client questions and enquiries.

Responsible for positioning brokerage services to new and existing clients.

Attends client TCA/Best Execution meetings along with the Northern Trust Data Analyst

Attends client Due Diligence meetings

Identifies ideas to enhance the customer experience or provide additional value to the relationship.

Follows up with clients routinely as part of the client service and experience, regardless whether they have traded recently or not.

Oversight of the client experience and escalation of any problems.

Keep clients updated with market events, breaking news and price action.

Back-up coverage of other sales trader’s accounts during their absence or during periods of high volume.

Knowledge share other NT products and solutions to clients to solve their challenges

Become proficient in wider Northern Trust Banking & Markets products and services.

Resolution of secondary needs or issues of clients, for example escalating client technology issues, liaising with Operations for failed trades etc, obtaining back-office contacts, etc.

Experience and skills:

Strong communication skills; verbal, non-verbal and written.

Experience on the buyside is preferred.

Knowledge of investments and the financial markets, usually acquired by formal education or related work experience, is required to analyse data, and help make investment trading decisions

Knowledge of financial analysis, basic statistics, and accounting, usually acquired through formal education, is required to analyse, and interpret investment data.

Analytical and personal computer skills are needed to prepare analysis and reports.
