Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and highly skilled AU Accounting Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing invoicing processes, account reconciliations, direct debit payment schedules, student account audits, and data reporting. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency with financial software, particularly Xero and Axcelerate. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Manager, college accountant, and administrative departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective debt recovery.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.

Raise invoices and cross-reference them with relevant documentation to ensure accuracy.

Perform regular account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

Set up and manage direct debit payment schedules for student accounts.

Conduct thorough audits and validations of student accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Prepare a variety of financial reports, including aged receivables, invoicing, and progress reports.

Report data to government agencies and address any discrepancies or mismatches promptly.

Utilize Xero and the student management system (Axcelerate) efficiently for all financial tasks.

Respond to requests from the Operations Manager and provide necessary financial information.

Collaborate with the college accountant and administrative department to ensure cohesive financial operations.

Implement effective strategies for debt recovery and manage outstanding balances.

Requirements

High level of accuracy and attention to detail to identify and resolve data discrepancies

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for effective data analysis.

Proficient in using databases and financial software, particularly Xero and Axcelerate.

Ability to generate comprehensive reports from a range of data.

Advanced knowledge of IT systems, including proficiency in Excel and database navigation.

Excellent communication skills for interacting with management, staff, students, and employers, including effective telephone etiquette.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Solution-oriented approach to problem-solving, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
