Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of quality initiatives in our manufacturing systems. This candidate must have a thorough understanding of customer expectations and champion the internal effort to meet those expectations. Associates will be able to translate customer expectations into internal standards and processes.

Shift times for this position:

6:00am to 2:30pm must be open to working up until 4:30 when needed.

(Monday – Friday & day on Saturday)

Responsibilities:

Generate and maintain APQP and PPAP documentation such as Flow diagrams, PFMEA and Control Plans. Internal as well as with Suppliers.

Interface with customers & suppliers on quality related issues.

Promote early supplier involvement at project development stages for design for manufacturability purposes.

Review supplier processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement, and value enhancement opportunities.

Routinely provide performance communication to the supply base and internal personnel to ensure the proper use of suppliers based on defined commodity strategy.

Support and utilize the Strategic Group's activities and direction on supplier development, risk management, reduction, and consolidation.

Support and coordinate with the Strategic Group's new product activities and direction to optimize the transition from new product development to production.

Failure analysis/root cause investigation of all external product failures and proper documentation of the complete corrective action in 8D format.

Lead/participate on customer and supplier audits

Applies SPC methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes as well as to monitor critical processes to ensure product quality is maintained and/or improved.

Assist in training company personnel in Quality issues.

Champion internal problem-solving efforts.

Serve as an internal consultant for quality related knowledge.

Collect, analyze, interpret, & explain technical information & data to improve quality.

Act as liaison with other departments to assist them with continuous improvement.

Analyze production & quality trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001.

Ensure compliance to ISO/TS16949.

Approve part runs for all tooling.

Establish & maintain positive work relationships within the department and the company.

Function with general direction and little day-to-day supervision.

Support compliance with the company Quality Policies.

Support corporate continuous improvement initiative.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Five years’ quality experience in Manufacturing Systems preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Must understand PPAP and APQP processes.

Ability to generate quality procedures and work instructions as needed.

Ability to travel locally-Approximately 25% travel to customer locations.
