Canam is seeking a Financial Controller to join its Finance team. The Controller is a key position that will manage the accounting and finance functions for Canam Buildings US Inc., a subsidiary of Canam Group. Responsibilities of the Controller include full-cycle accounting, team management, budgeting, compliance, and interaction with management. The Controller will manage day-to-day accounting operations, supervise accounting staff for efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness in functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. The position requires operational and strategic proficiency.

Essential Functions:

Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other management reports.

Ensure compliance with IFRS and other relevant regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and direct the preparation of audit schedules.

Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Identify areas of improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.

Oversee income tax compliance and reporting activities.

Ensure timely submission of direct and indirect tax returns and adherence to laws and regulations.

Stay up to date on changes in tax legislation and proactively advise management on potential impacts.

Develop and monitor financial budgets and forecasts, including variance analysis, to provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.

Provide strategic financial guidance to support management in decision-making processes.

Manage cash flow projections, coordinate working capital management with the Treasury team, and maintain the online banking system.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.

Proven experience (7 years) in financial management, preferably in the construction industry or project-based environment.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel required.

Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.

Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence decision-making.

Demonstrated leadership abilities (2+ years) with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
