Job Description
As a Sustainment Lead on the Wireless Connectivity Solutions team, the incumbent will work with the team to design, implement, and maintain equipment installation projects in your area of responsibility (Hampton Roads, VA). Serve as the leading member of the Wireless Connectivity Sustainment team collectively responsible for the installation, maintenance, and overall technical administration of wireless connectivity systems. Ensure the 24/7 availability, integrity, security, and reliability of all wireless connectivity systems.
Responsibilities:
Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures
Organize and oversee the day-to-day operations of Wireless Connectivity Solutions at Hampton Roads locations
Supervise personnel in the management of ship and barge connections at Hampton Roads locations
Coordinate efforts to meet needs of ship schedules at Hampton Roads locations
Maintain and manage computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and other network and system problems
Replace faulty network hardware components when required
Maintain, configure, and monitor virus protection software and email applications
Monitor network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
Confer with network users about solving existing system problems
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems
Perform disaster preparedness and recovery operations when required
Perform other duties within this scope as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years’ experience in an IT or Engineering related field; or 8+ years direct experience supporting IT network engineering systems
Exceptional degree of customer-service orientation
Security+, Network+, CCNA certifications a plus.
Excellent oral and written communications skills, with direct experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders to meet project and program goals.
Experience managing projects with a minimum of $1M annual budget
Attention to detail, solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs
Team oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Prior Military experience preferred
Active DoD Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain a clearance
