Job Description
Nobu Hotel Palo Alto is looking for warm, approachable Host staff to represent the restaurant operation. The restaurant host/hostess is the first person to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. It is the job of the host/hostess to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the host/hostess.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Greet guests at the door and escort them to a table
Set tables according to service standards
Introduce the guests server as they sit down
Communicate with the kitchen regarding guest counts and length of wait for tables
Always smile and greet guests with a warm welcome
Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages
Maintain cleanliness of work areas and host/hostess stand throughout the day
Make silverware roll ups throughout the shift
Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
Run food and bus tables when you find extra time
Anticipate and address guests’ service needs
Check the restroom and perimeter of the restaurant every 30 minutes to ensure cleanliness
Thank guests with genuine appreciation
Help plan and coordinate timely seating of guests.
Take reservations in person and over the phone, using professional language at all times.
Answer telephones, responding to guests questions in a professional manner.
Knowledge of resort services and amenities.
Perform opening and closing side work.
Stay up to date and current on all general hotel and restaurant information
Maintain seating chart.
Check phone messages.
Use of Reserve Open Table system.
Use guest names whenever possible.
Knowledge of all menus items
