Job Summary
The marina General Manager (GM) assumes primary responsibility for overseeing the daily operations and financial performance of the marina and collaborates closely with ownership and the wider corporate team to ensure strategic and operational success.
The GM’s role encompasses a diverse range of critical duties including oversight of slip occupancy, billing and financial reporting, guest services, staff management, maintaining facilities and equipment, administrative, and supporting marketing initiatives. The successful execution of these responsibilities is pivotal in meeting the company’s financial and operational objectives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Managing slip occupancy, dockage agreements, financial transactions, insurance, billing, and reporting.
Delivering exceptional customer service and guest communications.
Participating in financial reviews, budget, and forecasting processes.
Managing and training staff, including uniform and branding compliance.
Maintaining docks, piers, utilities, seawalls, and facilities.
Overseeing equipment maintenance, key vendors and suppliers.
Coordinating fueling operations, sales, compliance, inventory reporting, and deliveries.
Developing and implementing named storm, fuel spill response, and life safety plans.
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Ensure the marina team welcomes captains, crews, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
Manage dockage reservations through various channels, including telephone, mobile app, and email platforms.
Maintain VHF radio communications and safely guide vessels in and out of the marina and provide docking assistance, fueling, and general services.
Lead the leasing and management of the onsite boat club.
Support reservations with information pertaining to marina services, rates, navigation, and amenities.
Oversee vendor compliance, including check-in, insurance, and compliance.
Maintain communications with both staff and customers.
Enforce marina rules and regulations to ensure boater compliance.
Technical & Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
5-7 years of marina experience
Ability to work safely in and around the water.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Basic boat handling skills and local navigation knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred.
Knowledge of basic power tools
