HR Director- Houston, TX 77024The Director of Human Resources reports directly to the CFO. The Human Resource Director will assist with policy development and direct and coordinate human resource activities, such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits and employee services; acts as the School s liaison to legal counsel regarding employment matters, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization s mission and talent strategy.Responsibilities:

Assists with policy development and directs and coordinates human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits and employee services.

Oversees and manages the HR departmental budget.

Ensures that all HR policies, initiatives, and actions are consistent with the school s approved mission and the school s strategic plans.

Supports the Employee and School Handbooks and assists with revisions and updates, when necessary, of the school s HR policies and procedures.

Is assessed through the Professional Growth and Evaluation Program.

Collaborates with Senior leadership to understand the organization s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.

Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.

Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.

Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to the executive leadership team.

Plans, prepares and implements all areas of financial responsibility related to human resources and prepares operating and capital budgets. Responsible for department budget projections, budget monitoring, and authorization of department expenditures.

Develops, implements and maintains effective compliance with applicable employment regulations, licensing and certificate regulations and accreditation standards including background checks.

Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.

Consults with legal counsel to minimize potential liability.

Acts as Administrator of the HRIS and Benefit System.

Acts as benefits liaison to benefit vendors and brokers.

Prepares and administers employee benefits and ensures effective and timely communication.

Meets with employees and prepares all FMLA and workers compensation claims.

Assists the Head of School and the CFO with staffing and compensation forecasting, and annual increases; prepares employment agreements.

Works with the Head of School, CFO, and various committees to assure compliance with the school s hiring policies and procedures.

Maintains salary changes and assures the correct FLSA classification of jobs.

Assists with creation, preparation and approval of job descriptions.

Works with key administrators to coordinate, implement and maintain employee evaluation system.

Oversees and assures compliance with the Diocese s Safeguarding God s Children program.

Consults with administrators and employees to resolve personnel issues.

Maintains secure and confidential human resource related files and records.

Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or supervisor including extracurricular activities.

Commits to the Employee Expectations of Professional Excellence as the non-negotiable foundations for employment and complies with Physical Requirements and Work Environment.

Employees may be required to work remotely or engage in telework activity as determined in the employer s sole discretion.

Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in human resources or related field; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred.

Ten years of HR experience with at least 5 years of executive HR experience.

Five years of related experience preferably in an independent school environment.

SHRM-SCP, preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS (ADP preferred), Google
