Job Summary:
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Intern or Co-op will work alongside other Instrumentation & Controls Engineers to prepare drawings, instrument specifications, calculations, and other deliverables for our clients’ design projects. The position will also interface with team members in our other engineering disciplines to provide cohesive engineering packages to our clients.
Responsibilities:
Complete calculations of limited complexity, with supervision as needed; may include control valve and flow meter sizing
Develop and maintain block and loop drawings
Provide support with instrument specifications
Assist experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineers with their activities as requested
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in Chemical or Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
Ability to work within diverse teams assembled from Nexus, clients, and others
Effective communication skills in order to convey ideas is a must
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
Seeks feedback to improve performance
Familiar with AutoCAD, or other drafting software a plus
Potential Experiences:
Gain an understanding of the business and engineering work flow in a consulting firm
Prepare instrument specifications and request quotes from vendors
Learn about process safety and its importance in the design and operation of our clients’ facilities
Exposure to and application of industry codes and standards related to the instrumentation and controls discipline
