Talbert, Bright, and Ellington (TBE), is an airport engineering design firm, located in Charlotte, NC. TBE is seeking a Construction Coordinator / Resident Engineer to assist in observing specific airport-related construction projects. The ideal candidate will have construction experience in airside and landside aviation projects, can resolve technical issues, read and interpret plans and specifications for projects, and coordinate with other team members in developing and executing project management plans.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct continual observation (not inspection) of airfield paving, lighting, and grading construction projects.

· Write concise field reports.

· Review Resident Project Engineer field reports.

· Coordinate with the Engineer of Record to resolve technical field issues for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.

· Monitor project controls, including checking contractors’ controls, coordination of schedules, and reviewing contractor schedules.

· Review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.

· Develop strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.

· Coordinate with the Program Management Team on the development and execution of the project management plan.

· Provide interpretation of contract plans and specifications.

· Confirm change order requests, develop estimates, negotiate costs, and write change orders.

· Review cost control and quality control on projects.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 10 years of relevant construction experience.

· Fundamentals of Engineering certification preferred.

· Prior airport construction experience.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Have the ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) and work with various parties, including owners and contractors, as well as internal staff and consultants.

· Have the ability to navigate construction sites with varying terrain and weather conditions.

· Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook/Word/Excel).

· E-Builder or similar software experience preferred.

· Must be able to pass a background check to obtain an airport security badge.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is negotiable. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
