Overview

We are a unique firm with a focus on unaccompanied minor work including offering pro bono representation for minors. We are experts in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and other relief available to unaccompanied minors. We are looking for a dynamic Immigration Attorney to join our growing team. As an Associate, you will be asked to provide legal advice, represent clients in immigration court, state court, and with USCIS. This is an excellent opportunity for a new attorney seeking to gain experience in immigration law, or an experienced attorney looking to do fulfilling work in a professional collaborative environment.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Attorneys will be working primarily with unaccompanied children;

Provide high-quality representation for children at master calendar hearings, individual merits hearings, and in state court proceedings;

Represent clients before USCIS at asylum interviews and other immigration related appointments;

Prepare and submit evidence including applications, declarations, supplemental evidence, and country conditions;

Work with expert witnesses, such as psychologists, or other professionals to develop supporting evidence;

Work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in case reviews;

Fight for social justice for immigrants.

Requirements

Juris Doctorate;

Active California state bar license (or in progress);

Strong case management, and legal writing skills;

Demonstrated ability to take initiative;

A willingness and ability to work with vulnerable communities;

Passion for social justice for immigrants required;

Spanish fluency required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the following forms of immigration cases is helpful: asylum, special immigrant juvenile status (family court/probate court);

Experience in immigration law is a plus, but not required as we can provide training.
