Volt has an immediate need for multiple Test Technicians to work for our client in a contingent to hire opportunity located onsite with our customer in Durham, NC. Hiring all 3 shifts, 1st shift 7am -3pm; 2nd shift 2pm – 10pm; and Swing shift

The Test Technicians will be responsible for the operation of multiple lab-scale units to characterize the activity of environmental catalyst (SCR, oxidation) and adsorber (CO2 capture) materials.

Key responsibilities of the Test Technicians, include:

Follow all safety policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Safely handle gas cylinders, glassware, heavy objects, and reactive gases.

Operate lab-scale units in a safe and efficient manner.

Set up and verify test operating conditions, based on provided information.

Prepare and load samples into the lab-scale unit (reactor, sorption tester).

Collect and analyze gas samples, to quantify conversion.

Collect, record, and summarize data accurately and neatly.

Accurately adhere to SOPs to generate reliable data.

Prepare catalyst samples.

Load reactors, set and verify operating conditions.

Collect gas samples and relevant system data.

Analyze gas samples, record analytical data, and unload samples.

Obtain and maintain all certification requirements for lab-scale unit operations and all testing and monitoring equipment.

Maintain lab-scale units and equipment in an orderly and careful manner.

Accurately perform reactor and instrument checks, audits, or calibrations.

Execute preventative maintenance plans on schedule, report issues.

Perform wet chemistry operations with good analytical technique.

Identify unusual conditions or settings which require attention from other staff.

Promptly and clearly report unusual issues or problems that arise during unit operation.

Solve minor problems and obtain appropriate assistance to solve major problems.

Make suggestions for improvement.

This is a contingent to hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:

Associates degree in Science, Engineering, or Technical field.

Ability to operate and care for laboratory analytical instruments.

Intermediate MS Excel experience.

Good communication skills both in writing and orally.

Mechanical aptitude and ability to work on and resolve issues with equipment.

Electrical knowledge.

Strong general computer ability.

Some analytical abilities.

Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends.

Ability to effectively work and cooperate with others.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.

1-2 years of work in a laboratory role.

3-5 years of technical or laboratory experience.

Physical Requirements:

Standing, stooping, bending, walking, squatting, and climbing frequently.

Ability to communicate effectively with others to resolve issues.

Ability to lift 30 pounds to a height of five feet occasionally.

Ability to disconnect, move, and connect compressed gas cylinders.

Pay Rate: $30.00/hour. *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
