Part-Time Summer Driver (Seasonal)

Job Description

DRIVER

The Fresh Air Fund is seeking hard-working, personable, reliable individuals with excellent communication skills to serve as summer drivers. Drivers support all Fresh Air summer program by taking camp staff out to town during their time off, as well as helping to transport campers from camp, and occasional trips to NYC. A current driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

Drivers work under the supervision of the Operations Coordinator. They help with all aspects of transportation for all Fresh Air summer programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Drive staff out to town for their time off in a 15 passenger van.

Picking up and dropping off supplies to NYC

Transporting supplies to Harriman state park.

Other driving as needed.

Qualifications:

Age: Must be at least 21+ years of age.

Personal: Must be in good general health, able to lift heavy objects on a regular basis.

Must have the ability to be flexible and adjust to changes quickly.

General familiarity with the local area (Fishkill/Beacon for Sharpe Staff, Peekskill/Woodbury Commons for Camp Junior)

Must be comfortable driving for extended periods of time.

Handle concerns and issues in a constructive manner.

Must be comfortable with late night driving.

Driver’s license required.

Employment period: Summer employment extends from mid-June to late August hours. There is a mandatory orientation and driver's test.

Hours per week: Hours per week vary, maximum 40 hours per week.

Compensation: Salary starts at $20.00 per hour to $24.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
