Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Primus, a leading cold-storage design build construction company. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in the design, planning, and execution of complex cold-storage projects, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The successful candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license and have a proven track record in designing and managing mechanical systems for cold-storage facilities.

General Duties:

Lead and oversee the mechanical engineering aspects of cold-storage projects from concept through construction and commissioning.

Design and develop innovative and efficient mechanical systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and plumbing, for cold-storage facilities.

Conduct detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure systems meet performance, energy efficiency, and safety standards.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project design.

Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation for mechanical systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry codes and regulations.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and drafters in the mechanical engineering team.

Perform site visits and assessments to evaluate existing systems, identify design challenges, and propose solutions for optimal system integration and functionality.

Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements, goals, and constraints, and provide effective technical solutions that align with project objectives.

Lead the coordination and communication with external partners, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure the timely procurement and installation of mechanical systems.

Monitor project progress, assess risks, and proactively address challenges to maintain project schedules and budgets.

Review and approve design documentation, change orders, and specifications to ensure accuracy and quality control.

Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in cold-storage mechanical engineering and apply them to project designs.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and safety practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical Engineering.

10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing systems for cold-storage facilities.

Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and plumbing systems, specifically tailored for cold-storage environments.

Demonstrated success in managing complex mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Strong project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently.

Thorough understanding of industry codes, regulations, and standards related to cold-storage facility design and mechanical systems.

Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.

Experience with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems is a plus.
