General Summary:

The Clinical Tasker provides compassionate care to patients in a physician’s office or clinic setting consistent with the policies and procedures set by the organization. As a member of the clinical staff, will proactively participate in identifying the needs of the patients and will implement methodology as directed to improve both patient clinical experience and care. The nurse is responsible for responding to calls/tasks to support, advise, and consult patients by phone. The Clincal Tasker is responsible for handling clinical information, computer task management, delegating clinical information to appropriate staff, refilling medications, calling test results and patient education.

Task Responsibilities:

• Use patient first values in assisting patients with needs

• Greet patients with compassion and a friendly manner

• Display excellent customer service skills with internal customers and patients

• Take exceptional notes and enter into EMR for the correct Provider

• Answer patients questions when possible, but ensure to always ask information from the Provider if the answer is not known

• Follow up with the patient and Provider and document in the EMR system

• Perform medication refills as necessary

• Work multiple provider’s task lists as needed (pharmacy calls, patient calls, etc.)

• Maintain patient confidentiality, observe all strictures of HIPAA

• Ensure efficient telephone communication

• Maintain accurate block time and clinical schedule information for scheduling

• Triage patient phone calls to ensure patient needs are met

• Educate the patient on diet, disease management, lab results, and medication

General Responsibilities:

• Attend nurse meetings and other educational opportunities

• “Float” to other offices as needed to fill in gaps/cover office lunch rotation

• Mail normal labs to patients and call patients with abnormal labs

• Ensure to follow policies and procedures set by Holston Medical Group

• Maintain communication with providers to ensure that patents needs are taken care of

• Assist with patient care as directed

• Communicate all office issues with the Nurse Manager and Regional Operations Manager

• Maintain clinical area to meet site visit standards

• Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters relating to personnel and patient PHI (Protected Health Information)

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

• High School diploma or equivalent required

• LPN license by the state in which employed or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant

• 2-5 years’ experience in a medical office

• CPR certified

• Must possess excellent communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others

Marginal: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time. Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds occasionally. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Work independently and identify potentially more effective methods of work operations. Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
