World Renowned Integrated Design Firm Seeking a Talented Senior Electrical Engineer. Ottawa. $100K - $130K

Your new company

Our client is a globally renowned integrated design firm that has been in business for over 70 years and consists of an international network leading architectural and engineering professionals. Their Ottawa office is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer who will collaborate with other professional disciplines and manage the design through all phases of commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, educational, transportation, and mixed-use high-rise projects using their knowledge of building engineering systems, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies.

Your new role

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating project requirements and creating studies, drawings and specifications to support constructions projects. You will design electrical components of the overall building including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems, while integrating architectural design and adhering to applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements. You will assist the studio manager with the implementation of design standards and procedures to improve team efficiency. Your responsibilities will also include performing engineering activities such as calculations, code research, equipment and building systems research, laying out components, and calculation of program and building areas. You will evaluate site conditions, including zoning requirements and site constraints and perform site surveys and field reviews to accurately document existing and new construction conditions. You will be responsible for assigning tasks to and oversee the quality of work from less senior engineers and designers. You will review project products, services and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant jurisdictional codes and corporate quality controls while synthesizing, interpreting and coordinating technical information to write engineering specifications for Project Manuals.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and qualifications:

7-10+ years of experience in an electrical engineering / design role

P.Eng designation in Canada would be considered an asset

Relevant post-secondary education

Familiarity with architectural design concepts and building codes is required

Current in-depth engineering knowledge related to building electrical systems and multiple building types

Proficiency with engineering software skills, including AutoCAD, Revit MEP, as well as electrical engineering systems design software

Ability to obtain federal government security clearance is mandatory

Ability to communicate in both English and French is an asset
