Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated research scientist with expertise in the biochemistry and biophysics of protein systems, including protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions. You will work in collaboration with medicinal chemists, computational chemists, and biologists to elucidate novel mechanisms of protein modulation by small molecules. The successful applicant will lead research projects in pursuit of small molecule therapeutics and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities:

Design, execute, and oversee enzyme kinetic assays, protein binding assays, and biophysical analyses to support inhibitor characterization and small molecule discovery workflows.

Express and purify proteins from microbial hosts.

Collaborate with medicinal chemists and computational biologists to optimize small-molecule leads based on the understanding of protein structure-activity relationships.

Analyze and interpret experimental data, present findings to the leadership team, and make data-driven decisions to advance drug discovery projects.

Write protocols and maintain a high-quality Electronic Laboratory Notebook.

Work on teams with diverse scientific backgrounds and foster a collaborative culture to conduct world-class science.

Necessary Qualifications:

Ph.D. with at least 4 years of post-graduate experience or BS/MS with 8 years of experience.

Experience with protein biochemical assay development, high-throughput screening, and enzyme kinetics (kinetic models, inhibition analysis, and assay troubleshooting).

Experience with the development of protein expression and purification protocols.

Experience with protein biophysical characterization techniques (e.g., crystallography, NMR, TSA/DSF, SPR, FRET, ITC, Tm, DSC, and DLS).

Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic startup environment.

Strong collaboration skills (verbal and written communication, organization, teamwork, and creativity).
