Assistant Procurement Manager - Heavy Civil Construction - Base Salary to 55k/year - Bronx, NY

Our client is one of the largest privately held utility companies in the New York Metropolitan area and has been in business for the past 25 years. They build public and private projects and are committed to excellence and innovation, while valuing the contributions of their employees.

Currently, they are seeking an Assistant Procurement Manager to join their team in the Bronx, NY. This position will play a vital role in supporting the procurement process by assisting with sourcing suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. A Heavy Civil Engineering background is critical to success in this position.

Responsibilities:

Research and identify potential suppliers/vendors, procure price quotations, and negotiate terms.

Maintain an extensive supplier database.

Support the creation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy.

Monitor order status for timely delivery and liaise with suppliers to resolve issues.

Keep inventory levels updated to prevent shortages and assist in stock reconciliation.

Coordinate with relevant departments to handle surplus inventory.

Maintain precise procurement records and organize documents for easy retrieval.

Ensure adherence to procurement policies and regulations.

Assist in supplier evaluation and stay updated on industry best practices.

Support cost analysis and identify opportunities for savings.

Provide administrative assistance to the procurement team, including scheduling and correspondence.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, civil engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

3+ years of proven experience as a procurement assistant or in a similar role.

Proficiency in procurement software and tools is advantageous, particularly familiarity with Sage 300, Sage Paperless, and HeavyBid.

Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sage 300 and Sage Paperless).

Familiarity with procurement regulations and optimal methodologies is preferred.

Openness to learning and adjusting to evolving procurement processes.

Commitment to maintaining integrity and ethical conduct when dealing with confidential procurement data.

Background involving NYC agencies like DOT, MTA, DDC, and diverse facets of heavy civil construction (e.g., utility, concrete, structural steel).

Compensation:

Base salary in the 45k – 55k/year range

Annual bonus
