Construction Heavy Civil Estimator Job Description

gpac, a 30+ year recruitment company, is partnered with a well-established company in the Heavy Civil Construction industry. Our client is a full-service civil general contractor known for their expertise in delivering high-quality projects. They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team.

This is an amazing opportunity for candidates who are looking to advance their careers in the construction industry. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the bidding process for public works projects, including Caltrans and City/County Agency work. You will have the chance to work on projects ranging from $20-$300M, gaining invaluable experience and contributing to the success of the company.

Construction Heavy Civil Estimator Responsibilities:

- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil construction projects

- Collaborate with the estimating team to analyze project specifications and requirements

- Utilize HCSS Heavybid software to create and update estimates

- Develop CPM schedules, including baseline schedules and progress schedules

- Conduct thorough research on labor, material, and equipment costs

- Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information

- Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

- Identify potential risks and provide recommendations for mitigation

- Present estimates to management and participate in bid proposal meetings

Construction Heavy Civil Estimator Job Functions:

- Utilize Autocad, AgTek, Bluebeam, Primavera, and Microsoft programs proficiently

- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and analytical skills

- Travel as required to project sites

Construction Heavy Civil Estimator Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management

- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager for heavy civil projects

- Strong background in estimating public works bids, including Caltrans and City/County Agency work (minimum 4 years)

- Experience working with CPM schedules, including creating baseline schedules and updating progress schedules (minimum 2 years)

- Proficiency with HCSS Heavybid software

- Knowledge of earthwork, underground utilities, bridge and retaining wall construction

- Experience in roads, dams, mining, railroad, storm water channels

- Work experience on an estimating team for project bids ranging from $20-$300M

Benefits:
