Job Summary:

The Sector Business Development Officer (BDO) - Not for Profits is responsible for driving business

growth and revenue generation within the Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) sector including

United Nations (UN) agencies and international organizations. The BDO- Not for Profits will identify

new opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to

promote the Indepth Research Institute (IRES) products and services. This role requires a strong sales

background and a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by non-governmental

organizations (NGOs) sector including United Nations (UN) agencies and international organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Research:

Conduct thorough research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the UN agencies,

international organizations, and NGOs sector. Stay updated on industry developments, competitor

activities, and market dynamics specific to this sector.

2. Sales Strategy:

Develop and implement effective sales strategies and tactics to achieve revenue targets and business

objectives within the sector.

3. Client Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients within the sector.

Understand their needs, challenges, and goals, and customize solutions to meet their specific

requirements.

4. Proposal Development:

Prepare and present compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to clients, showcasing the

organization's products and services.

5. Partnership Development:

Identify and forge strategic partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations, NGOs, and

other stakeholders to expand the organization's reach and impact within the sector.

6. Sales Collateral Development:

Collaborate with the marketing team to develop sales collateral, marketing materials, and promotional

campaigns targeted at UN agencies, international organizations, and NGOs. Ensure alignment with

sector-specific messaging and branding.

7. Market Expansion:

Explore opportunities for market expansion and penetration within the UN agencies, international

organizations, and NGOs sector, including new geographic regions, customer segments, or

product/service offerings.

8. Customer Feedback:

Gather feedback from clients and stakeholders within the UN agencies, international organizations,

and NGOs sector to understand their satisfaction levels, preferences, and areas for improvement.

9. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Education: A Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Social Work, International Relations,

Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) or a related field is

required. Advanced degrees or relevant professional certifications are preferred.

2. Sales Experience: A minimum of 3 years of proven success in sales roles, preferably in an

organisation serving UN agencies, international organizations, and NGOs. Demonstrated experience

in business development, consultative selling, and strategic account management is essential.

3. Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of the operations, priorities, and challenges within the UN

agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.

4. Sales Skills: Proficiency in sales principles, techniques, and methodologies, with a focus on

consultative selling, relationship building, and solution-oriented sales strategies tailored to the UN

agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.

5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to

effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including clients, donors, partners, and internal

teams within UN agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.

6. Strategic Thinking: Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze market trends, identify

opportunities, and develop targeted sales strategies to achieve business objectives within the UN

agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.

7. Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

(Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics), sales analytics tools, and other technology platforms

used for sales and business development activities.

8. Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams,

including sales, marketing, operations, and program management, to achieve common goals and

deliver exceptional customer value to UN agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.

9. Cultural Sensitivity: Cultural awareness and sensitivity to effectively engage with diverse

stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds and regions within the UN agencies, international

organizations, and NGOs.

10. Ethical Conduct: Commitment to upholding ethical standards and integrity in all business dealings,

adhering to organizational policies and regulations, and promoting transparency and accountability

within UN agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.

11. Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, navigate complex

environments, and overcome challenges with resilience and determination within the dynamic

landscape of UN agencies, international organizations, and NGOs.
