POSITION: Communications Intern
FUNCTION: To assist the USLCI/INEX Communications Manager
REPORTS TO: USLCI-INEX Communications Manager
POSITION LOCATION: U.S. Legend Cars International – Harrisburg, NC
ABOUT THE POSITION:
U.S. Legend Cars International, the manufacturer of the world-famous Legend Car and Bandolero race cars, has an opening for a communications intern for Fall 2024. The role of this intern will be to assist the communications manager to develop and create ideas to promote, share stories, and reach USLCI audiences and beyond. As an intern, you will receive experience in recap and feature writing, along with social media posting. The internship is paid and has a duration from Tuesday, August 20 to Friday, November 22.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop ideas for social media posts that conform to USLCI/INEX and Speedway Motorsports Inc. standards
Write select feature stories
Conduct interviews for a weekly featured driver segment, highlighting one of USLCI’s Legend Car or Bandolero drivers
Assist with camera and video documentation of Bandolero Nationals, Legend Car Dirt Nationals, Legend Car Asphalt Nationals, and Road Course World Finals.
Scan, archive, and organize old photographs and magazines
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Strong story and feature writing and copyediting skills
Exceptional social media ethics
Working knowledge of digital camera preferred
Short form video and photo editing skills
Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Proficient oral, written, and digital communication skills
Highly motivated and possesses the ability to manage multiple tasks
Willingness to learn
LOCATION, TRAVEL, and TIME REQUIREMENTS
Required to be present at the U.S. Legend Cars International offices in Harrisburg, NC a minimum of 10 hours a week
Required work and travel to Bandolero Nationals (Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sep. 5-8), Dirt Nationals (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Oct. 9-13), Asphalt Nationals (Fredericksburg, Virginia Oct. 23-27), and Road Course World Finals (Concord, North Carolina Nov. 15-17)
EDUCATION
A candidate pursuing a degree(s) in Journalism, Social Media, or Communication is preferred.
